Last Saturday June 13th, the completion of the new city library named on the behalf of the first president of Kosova “Ibrahim Rugova”, was inaugurated on the presence of the Fatmir Sejdiu – President of Kosova, Valton Beqiri – Minister of Youth, Culture and Sport, and on the presence of Pal Lekaj – Mayor of Gjakova.

Located right behind the Palace of Culture’s Asim Vokshi, the new library appears before its environment as an element with urban presence. The program is developed in three storey plans, by creating a great natural light and a visual relation between different spaces. On a floor space of 1600 m2, this library has a capacity up to 360 seats for readers and can provide more than 600 different services within the day.

About 800 thousand euros were invested on building the new library, of which over 600 thousand were provided by the Ministry of Culture, whereas others by the Municipality.
