Studio 5.5 turns switches and sockets into Volt Face lighting and furniture
Volt Face starts with an element usually chosen late in an interior project: the electrical switch. Studio 5.5 turns Schneider Electric’s Odace fittings into the basis of lighting and furniture.
Presented on the studio’s website on 9 September 2026, the collection was developed by Vincent Baranger and Anthony Lebossé. It includes wall and pendant lights, lamps, a table and a bedside table.
Rather than disappearing into a finished wall, sockets and switches become visible components of the objects. Repetition and combination turn the product range into a set of parts to compose with, bringing the small scale of electrical accessories into the larger scale of furniture.

The project also makes operation part of the encounter. Touching a switch, pressing it and hearing its click become deliberate aspects of the design. Familiar fittings invite users to investigate how the objects work.
For interior architecture, the interesting shift is in the sequence of decisions. Technical accessories provide the starting point for form, colour and interaction, rather than being selected after those choices are settled.
