Prishtina plans historic cultural zones

Yll Rugova, the Municipality of Prishtina’s director of culture, said work was underway to identify the city’s historic assets and then invest in designated cultural and heritage zones.

“After identifying them, we will repave some parts of the city with cobblestones, and we invite businesses to become involved,” Rugova told RTK.

He did not provide details of the streets that would form part of the historic zone.

“These areas contain both private and public properties,” he said. Rugova explained that the municipality was developing cultural projects intended to strengthen Prishtina’s position as a capital with a distinct cultural and historical identity.

He said Swisscontact would help the municipality develop the projects. Prishtina, he added, has many historic and cultural buildings dating back hundreds of years. /KOHA.net
