Norman Foster Connects Case and Strap in His First LEBOND Watch
Norman Foster’s 2026 watch for LEBOND treats the case and strap as one continuous design. Developed with the Norman Foster Foundation’s Innovation and Design Unit, the Swiss mechanical watch removes conventional projecting lugs and carries the titanium case directly into an interchangeable strap system.
The design offers a close look at how connections, material finishes and the shape of an object affect everyday use. The source gallery includes Foster’s design studies and product images courtesy of LEBOND Watches.
The titanium case eliminates projecting lugs, so the strap meets the watch as a continuous surface. A rotating 12-hour bezel provides a second time reference; a sapphire back reveals the automatic movement. The design translates an architectural concern with junctions into an object worn against the body.
Developed with the Norman Foster Foundation’s Innovation and Design Unit, the watch is presented in natural titanium and a dark finish. Designboom’s 28 October 2026 interview documents the design and product images.
