11 June deadline for registering unpermitted buildings
Three weeks remained before the legal deadline for applying to register unpermitted buildings. Hazir Zhitia, head of the urbanism sector, told Radio Kosovo that the process in Prishtina was progressing successfully, with approximately 45,000 applications received.
Officials said there would be no further extension. More than 235,000 applications had been submitted nationally, including around 45,000 in Prishtina.
The registration deadline for the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning’s programme was 11 June. Xhemajl Metolli, head of the ministry’s construction division, said: “There will be no extension beyond 11 June. From then until 16 September, the period will be used to review possible appeals from residents concerning whether their buildings have been included in the register for treatment of unpermitted construction.”
Registration had originally been due to end in February of that year but was extended because of the large number of applications. After the registration deadline, the next phase would involve submitting technical and supporting documentation for legalisation.
We will provide further information about the process in the following weeks. For specific enquiries, readers can contact mail@magazine.onup.me.
