Edoardo Tresoldi’s ghost-like basilica in Puglia

Artist Edoardo Tresoldi recreated the Basilica of Santa Maria in Puglia, Italy. The destroyed basilica takes on a very different appearance in this reconstruction: a ghost-like building.

The permanent installation uses transparent-looking metal elements, introducing a different approach to reconstruction. The original report states that it was built in three months with a budget of 3.5 million and matches the dimensions of the former building. Tresoldi describes the work as necessary to preserve the area’s historical value.
