ECOWEEK Prishtina 2015

ECOWEEK Prishtina announces its second edition, taking place from 27 September to 4 October 2015 at the Modelarium of the Faculty of Architecture in Prishtina.

ECOWEEK Prishtina is a platform for consultation and collective action based on education, civic participation, collaboration and sustainable design. It aims to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage greener ways of living.

The event is organised by the NGO ECOciety in cooperation with the Municipality of Prishtina and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”. Its lectures and discussions on sustainable design bring together local and international students and professionals to exchange ideas and environmentally responsible building techniques.

Founded in Greece in 2005, ECOWEEK has expanded its activities to more than 40 countries, including the United States in the year covered by this announcement. Its international network of architects, designers and engineers promotes sustainability principles intended to prevent further environmental damage.

The programme includes lectures by Jean Robert Mazaud, Margot Clerc, Elias Messinas, Nicola Delon, Katerina Mojanchevska, Artan Raca, Naser Kabashi and others.

Young professionals from Kosovo and abroad will work together in workshops addressing architectural and urban challenges in Prishtina. Design work will take place in studios, with interventions in public spaces across the city. The projects will be exhibited and then submitted to the municipality for possible implementation. Workshop participants will receive ECTS credits.

The workshops are:

P1 — Designing an ecological house in Kosovo (Gezim Pacarizi, Brixhita Deda, Arnisa Kryeziu).

P2 — Social, passive and radical interventions (Rozafa Basha, Valentina Tahirsylaj).

P3 — Designing an information centre in Gërmia Park (Ajhan Bajmaku, Miran Mohar, Fitore Isufi-Koja).
